About Debra Hamilton
Debra Hamilton is a communications professional and the co‑founder of Wing Creek Resort. She began her career in Toronto as a journalist before moving to Vancouver, where she built a successful career in technical communication and marketing in the technology sector. In 2004, she and her husband Kevin relocated to Kaslo to create Wing Creek Resort, transforming 20 acres of lakeshore into a boutique retreat that has hosted thousands of guests from around the world.
Debra has also been an active leader in regional economic development, including:
- Served multiple terms on the Kaslo & Area Chamber of Commerce, including three years as president
- Co‑founded a local Internet Service Provider to bring high‑speed connectivity to the region
- Helped establish Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism and served multiple terms on the board of directors
- Managed the Kaslo campus of Selkirk College, delivering continuing education and hospitality training programs
Debra fell in love with the mountains, lake and wildlife that surround Wing Creek Resort and loves to share local knowledge with resort guests. When not busy with the resort, she can usually be found reading or writing something and enjoying the silence broken only by the sounds of the cascading waters of the creek that lent its name to the resort.
